SASA Members’ 1 Exhibition 2022

It was a gorgeous day at Kirstenbosch for the hanging of the Members’ 1 exhibition on Friday 11 March. The whole procedure went well, from the smooth, socially distanced intake of paintings to the very organised hanging of them.

There was a steady stream of artists all morning, bringing their work to display, some old hands and some very welcome first-timers, all looking forward to showing their work and making a few – or many – sales. So, fingers crossed for lots of visitors!

We had a great group of helpers who all did their jobs most efficiently, all helping out wherever they were needed….huge thanks to Leon and Midge, who came to assist just because they could – lovely to have the extra hands and extra height! The whole exhibition looked wonderful by the time we’d finished – and amazingly well-spaced considering the large number of paintings we had to find place for. Well done everyone.

Sadly, we couldn’t have an opening event, as covid regulations are still in place, but we look forward to loads of sales, with tourists returning and people slowly coming out of “hibernation”. It’s lovely to hear the positive comments and compliments for the work on display, so it’s worth being there just to make people feel uplifted by our beautiful exhibition.

Thanks to our council – especially Audrey Innes, our exhibition coordinator – for all the work they put in to make these exhibitions happen and thanks to the members who came to help. You are much appreciated!…..and of course, thanks to Avril and her kitchen team for the drinks and snacks, which kept us going through the day.

The exhibition will run till 23 March, so be sure to spread the word!
