Suzanne Fortgens

Suzanne (Sue) was born in Cape Town (1970) and grew up in the Kwa-Zulu Natal midlands. Suzanne is a largely self-taught artist working predominantly in pastel, charcoal, gouache paint and more recently Scratchboard.
In 2005, Suzanne obtained a high commendation in Gibraltar for her pastel painting “Clay Pots” at the 7th Gibraltar Spring Arts Festival Exhibition.
Since her return to Cape Town in 2009 Suzanne has started to invest more time and commitment into her art career.
In January 2015, Suzanne became a member of the South African Society of Artists (SASA) in Cape Town and won the ‘Best Drawing Category’ with
“Lemon Branch” (Scratchboard) in SASA’s 109th Annual Exhibition (October 2015. Iin SASA’s 112th Annual Exhibition 2018, Suzanne won the ‘Best Drawing Category’ with “Firemen of the Cape Town Brigade – Western Cape Archives”
Original work has been purchased not only locally but also abroad.
