Watercolour has been my favoured medium over the years, however, since retiring I have dabbled in oils, and am now exploring acrylics. I might use oils like watercolour – a thin mixture that drips and flows. Acrylics urge me to use pure vibrant colours and quick brush strokes. The observation needed for painting has enhanced how I see the world.
The act of painting is an adventure from the first touch on the canvas to the last. In the end I am always surprised by the work. Apart from the joy of the journey, it is this unexpected surprise that gives me the greatest satisfaction.
