Plein Air Outing to Simonstown

On a very blustery Friday 17 January, a small group of SASA members braved the brisk South Easter to meet at the Yacht Club in Simonstown for the first plein air outing of 2020.

While some of us took shelter in the Yacht Club, others opted to sketch in the cafe on the square, with coffee close at hand, or walked about a bit in search of inspiration.

The conditions were not ideal for plein air painting, but with paper and canvas firmly fastened down, we were able to produce some satisfying results and had a most enjoyable morning.

Thanks to Natasha and Yvonne of the False Bay Yacht Club, for the warm welcome and to Johan Pieterse for arranging it for us……and of course, thanks to our members who make the effort to get there.
