OPEN STUDIO NO:2
from Tokai to Rondebosch
We spent a wonderful day visiting four Art studios of some of our SASA members.
Many thanks to June Hyman, Claudia Treagus. Mike Forester and Penny Steynor.

Above: June Hyman in her studio with beautiful views over the valley. All of June’s great landscape paintings are painted “en plein air” ( from life )

Above: Claudia Treagus uses a great “butchers block” covered in glass, for her palette. What a wonderful idea. Claudia paints eye catching figures in oils !!

Above: Mike Forester has a unique way of painting, starting on a black back ground ( the sky is left white) and then carefully adding his colour, while leaving the black as his shadows. His paintings are quite detailed and well executed.

Above: Penny Steynor in her spacious studio where she gives watercolour classes. She has stunning sketchbooks, full of wonderful “future” paintings. Penny, who also loves pastels and has made many of her own pastel colours, see below.

Genuine ochre rock that can be ground down and used in the making of pastels.
