Wendy du Plessis

As a child I was always drawing or painting animals, but it wasn’t until 1972 that I started painting in oils and sold my first painting of a racehorse to Gary Player.
I aim to capture each animal’s unique personality and I feel that my interest and knowledge of the subject enables me to do this. My talent is brought to life through research and finding improved ways to approach new paintings. Years of riding and working with horses has given me the knowledge of anatomy and muscle movement which is illustrated in my artwork.
My paintings hang in private collections throughout the world, and can be found in many galleries in the Western Cape. I accept commissions of any animal (from good quality photographs), in either oils on canvas, or in pastels.
