Laurette de Jager

Laurette de Jager is a professional artist and teacher of art. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions. She specialises in oils concentrating on themes that range from realism to surrealism – realistic portraits, found objects, and atmospheric scenes from everyday life. Her work focuses on looking beyond the discernible to that which functions as undercurrents for society. Laurette achieved a number of awards during her 8 years working as a professional jewellery designer. She has been working as a full time teaching artist since 2009. She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Visual Arts program at UNISA. The title of her dissertation: “The Poetry of Decay – A Painters response to the Dystopian Aesthetic”
